Like a painting or drawing, it’s important that we realize that our thoughts are like creating visuals for us. They come from our imagination and, a lot of the time, are based on past outcomes or what we’re creating in our minds about the future. The interesting thing is that it’s so easy for us to get lost in creating thoughts of fear and worry in the present moment instead of enjoying the present moment for what it is and all the things it has to offer us.
There’s this guise that if we assess the negative that may come, it’s being realistic, but it’s actually being pessimistic, highlighting the worst over the best. In the present moment, we can surrender to the frame right in front of our faces, or if we choose to peer into the future, we can choose to visualize a better picture or something more desirable and less worrisome.
I remember one time watching who I think is the Bhagwan. He said that we create movies in our heads, and these movies are like horror movies, so why not change the types of movies that we create? We can all create movies in our minds that are beyond our greatest imagination instead of misusing our imagination to create fears.
Just like a movie, I take the same perspective when I talk about reframing and how, in the present moment, we can always take up the space to bring to our awareness why we think the way we think, why we do what we do, and change it from fear to faith. Some may think that we can control the outcome, so instead of thinking the best, we may get lost in the worst-case scenario that is just based on our current and past capabilities, without the understanding that growth requires us to surrender our past and current capabilities, using them as a base to jump from.
I have learned that worry is what creates a lot of chronic diseases, chronic pain, arthritis, and mental health issues of all assortments. All for what? Past survival instincts that we got from our ancestors or walking on eggshells that we got from traumatic experiences.
I think that it’s super important to realize that we’re not our past and not our future, but we can think good thoughts about our future. We can create the most magical movie. We can set intentions in the present moment to move toward our future, but first it takes the ability to drop the image of what we’re worrying about so we can move at a different speed, a speed where there are no worries and where you can surrender to the moment.
I brought up this topic because it’s so fun to create. I use creating and movement to help with overthinking, and as I create more, I realize that expression also helps us let go. When we create a new picture of something unexpected, life is unfolding as it is.
Anyways, this is your reminder to practice reframing. Expect the unexpected and have faith in the best over the worst.
Til next time <3
